-Trench Driver's Watch Black-
This is a faithful, user-friendly reproduction of a retro Waltham wristwatch that existed in the early 1900s. A "trench" refers to the trenches used primarily by soldiers during trench warfare (1914-1918) in World War I. Soldiers fought by digging into the ground and concealing themselves, and trench coats, with the same etymology, were similarly designed to protect against dirt and dust. A "driver's watch," as the name suggests, is a watch designed to be worn on the arm that grips the steering wheel when driving. The history of driver's watches is surprisingly old, with their existence confirmed as early as the turn of the 20th century. The mystery of the tilted dial? The answer is simple: it was a driver's watch for the right arm. Many of the trench battles in World War I were fought by British forces. The UK still drives on the left, with the steering wheel on the right, just like Japan. Cars of that era, whether British or Japanese, had manual shift gears. Even for right-handed people, the left hand operated the shift lever, so a driver's watch was inevitably worn on the right hand. The roots of the underlay strap are found in military watches. This makes sense if the origin of wristwatches was attaching pocket watches to the wrist. The stability provided by wearing an underlay strap is unmatched. This size is not too flashy and allows the watch to make a statement. It is truly like a tasteful "frame" in a painting.
Trench Driver's Watch Dial The case has a matte finish processed with barrel tumbling. The white dial (pearl white) uses black-rimmed indexes, providing unparalleled legibility. The strap is a thin brown belt with an underlay.

"Legibility" is important for both trench military watches and driver's watches. Also, the "KEYFORD" logo is at the 12 o'clock position. A blue small second hand is placed at the 6 o'clock position. This blue is used on the edges of the hour and minute hands to bring the whole design together. This small seconds area is also set slightly lower.
