-Trench Driver's Watch Black-
This is a faithful and easy-to-use reproduction of a retro Waltham watch that existed in the early 1900s. A "trench" refers to a dugout, and specifically to wristwatches used by soldiers during trench warfare (trench battles) in World War I, which lasted from 1914 to 1918. Soldiers fought while hiding their bodies by digging into the ground, and the trench coat, which has the same etymology, was similarly designed to protect against dirt and dust. Also, a "driver's watch," as the name suggests, is a watch designed to be worn on the arm that grips the steering wheel when driving a car. The history of driver's watches is surprisingly old, with their existence confirmed since the early 20th century. The mystery of the tilted dial? The answer is simple: it was a driver's watch for the right arm. Much of the trench warfare in World War I was fought by the British army. Even today, Britain drives on the left with the steering wheel on the right, just like Japan. Cars at the time, whether British or Japanese, had shift gears. Even right-handed people would operate the shift gear with their left hand, so they would inevitably wear a driver's watch on their right hand. The roots of the bund strap are in military watches. If the origin of the wristwatch was attaching a pocket watch to the wrist, then this makes sense. The stability when wearing a bund strap is unparalleled. A watch of this size does not glare too much and can assert itself. It is truly like a tasteful "frame" in a painting.
Trench Driver's Watch dial and case have a matte finish processed in a barrel. It features a black dial with white indexes and a black bund strap.
"Legibility" is important for both trench military watches and driver's watches. The 'KEYFORD' logo is positioned at 12 o'clock. A blue small seconds hand is placed at 6 o'clock. This blue is used for the edges of the hour and minute hands to tie the whole design together. The small seconds part is also set lower.
