AN5740 VIDEO

The AN5740, which can be worn as a wristwatch or a pocket watch, has been upgraded in quality from brass to stainless steel, and from mineral glass to crystal glass. It is now re-released with a lineup of three mechanical movements and two 24-hour quartz movements.

■ Mechanical Watch Railroad Watch "Railroad"
■ Mechanical Watch "British Military Broad Arrow"
■ 24-hour Quartz Watch "AN5740 Black"
■ 24-hour Quartz Watch "AN5740 Night and Day"

This is where it all began.

This model is a reproduction based on the "AN5740," a master navigation watch used by the U.S. military in the 1940s. It's a 2-way watch that can be used both as a pocket watch and a wristwatch. Rather than just reproducing the design, we've recreated "the way it's used."

There are many masterpieces among military pocket watches, excellent in both function and design. Many people must want to enjoy their charm in daily life. If you convert it into a wristwatch with a general cover, it becomes bulky, and its original form and atmosphere are lost. While lug welding can maintain its beauty, it can no longer be used as a pocket watch. This product allows you to enjoy the charm of a pocket watch as is, and also use it as a wristwatch without compromising its shape. The original cover, just 1mm thick, makes both ways of enjoyment possible.

This is our completely original product, with design registration already completed.

This product allows you to enjoy the charm of both a wristwatch and a pocket watch simultaneously!

For the M.R.M.W. brand, we developed a special ultra-thin 1mm stainless steel cover (domestic design registration pending, US design patent application pending). This cover allows you to enjoy the original shape and feel of a pocket watch while also using it as a wristwatch. This pocket watch cover debuted three years ago as AN5740 and was a well-received product. This time, the movement has been upgraded from quartz to mechanical. The watch body and watch cover are made of stainless steel, and the glass has also been upgraded to sapphire glass.

Mechanical

AN5740 Mechanical 3-Piece

  • 1. Type 100 Aircraft Clock: "Time"

The Original Experience. Bringing Back the True "Watch Experience."

Winding a pocket watch, and an automatic movement when worn on the wrist. Keeping time. A mechanical model for "feeling" time.

A reproduction of the Type 100 Pilot's Watch used by the Imperial Japanese Army in the 1940s. The kanji character for "time" is engraved at the 12 o'clock position on the dial, and the words "Ichinichi Maki" (one-day wind) and "Hikō Tokei" (pilot's watch) are faithfully reproduced at the 6 o'clock position. The only difference from the original is that the dial has a three-dimensional effect and a curved surface. The teardrop-shaped hands add a subtle touch of charm to the design. (The photo at the bottom right of the image above is of an actual original Type 100 Pilot's Watch being worn.)

  • 2. Railway Watch Railroad

This watch is a homage to a British-made watch from 1904. The dial features Roman numerals. The accuracy of watches, a matter of life and death, improved dramatically. While war was one reason, railways were involved even before that. As the railway network developed in the UK, each railway company maintained its own time based on the time set at its head office, and at major interchange stations, the times of each company were displayed. This led to frequent confusion regarding connections and transfers. In the US, during the era of single-track operation, collisions and accidents occurred frequently, resulting in loss of life. To reduce accidents, a common standard time was needed. By 1848, railway companies agreed on a standard time based on Greenwich Mean Time, and people began to set their watches to this time. Because this watch is made with design as the top priority, its luminous function is somewhat modest.

  • 3. Broad Arrow white dial

This is a reproduction of a 1942 U.S.-made Royal Navy pocket watch. It is a U.S.-made nautical wristwatch produced for the British Navy during World War II, housed in a wooden box and used as a deck clock. It served as a master nautical watch (standard ship's clock). It features a simple yet highly legible dial. The Broad Arrow mark, indicating British government ownership, is engraved at the 12 o'clock position. This product prioritizes design, so it does not have a luminous function.

AN5740 24H Quartz 2 types

  • 1. 24-Hour Clock [AN5740 Black]

*This is a Swiss-made quartz watch.
This model was the inspiration for this series and project. We have faithfully reproduced the AN5740 pocket watch, an indispensable piece among US military navigation watches. The AN5740 was developed in the 1940s during World War II and was used as a master watch by the Army, Navy, and Air Force. This product's size and design have been reproduced with the premise of looking stylish when worn as a wristwatch.
The hour markers are arranged with 1-24 hour notation on the inner circle, and the second markers are marked in 5-second increments on the outer circle. It uses a movement from Ronda, Switzerland. G.C.T on the dial stands for (Greenwich Civil Time). The large dial makes it easy to read the time even on a 24-hour clock.

  • 2. 24-hour clock AN5740 Night & Day

*This is a Swiss-made quartz watch.
Among the many AN5740 series, the iconic dial has been featured on the cover of the M.R.M.W. catalog for many years.
Unlike the black dial AN5740 among U.S. military navigation watches, this is a reproduction of a dial that is said to be a "phantom" among collectors, with only a very small number still in existence. It is truly rare, and it is certain that it was issued to only a few pilots embarking on long-range strategic bombing missions. By dividing the 24-hour dial into black and white (cream and black), it offers high visibility and an intuitively designed dial that allows for easy recognition of AM and PM.
Due to its large dial, it is easy to read the time even on a 24-hour watch. The meaning of "B.J.B." written on the dial is still unknown. There is a theory that it is named after a strategic bombing unit called "Berlin Japan Bomber."

M.R.M.W. Watchmaking Company: 130 Years of History and Craftsmanship

M.R.M.W. is a domestic watch brand of Montres et Leurs montres Co., Ltd., which was founded 20 years ago as the original brand division of "Muramatsu Watch Works," a company with 130 years of watchmaking history. We have faithfully and practically reproduced masterpieces of vintage military watches from around the world. These are not mere reproductions, but rather recreations that capture the splendor of vintage watches, including their age-related deterioration, using 130 years of watchmaking technology and history.
The purpose of military watch production was clear: to incorporate "clarity," "accuracy," and "durability" into the functional, design, and technical aspects. This can still be said to be the goal of wristwatches today. Designs imbued with national pride and wisdom, rather than temporary profits for a single company, are universal.
