We’ve reissued the classic AN5740 Master Navigation Watch so it can be worn not only as a pocket watch but also as a wristwatch.
This is a navigation pocket watch used by the U.S. Army and Navy during World War II. The model name is “AN5740.” The “A” stands for ARMY, and the “N” stands for Navy. We’ve fitted this pocket watch with a specialized case to create a timepiece that can be enjoyed as either a wristwatch or a pocket watch. (Design patent registered)
Even today, there are products that wrap a pocket watch in a leather cover to turn it into a wristwatch. However, these inevitably end up being large and bulky. The strap cover hides the pocket watch’s form, compromising its original shape and atmosphere. While the method of welding on lugs is certainly simple, it means you can never enjoy it as a pocket watch again. With this product, you can enjoy it both as an authentic pocket watch and as a wristwatch. The early 12-hour models of the U.S. Army Military Watch “White” series also featured white dials. To evoke that vintage feel, we’ve finished it in silver-white. Dials stamped with “G.C.T.” also existed for this AN5740 case. However, this time we’ve gone back even further—to the latter half of World War I. We have recreated the pocket watch dial sent to the United States Army Corps of Engineers who were deployed to France. It is an easy-to-use watch with excellent readability. It uses a CITIZEN MIYOTA 12-hour mechanical movement.
