TYPE A-7 aviation hack watch Black

The TYPE A-7 aviation hack watch is a reproduction based on pilot watches manufactured by Longines and Meylan in the 1930s and supplied to the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). It was the first practical wristwatch produced by the Air Corps, the predecessor of the U.S. Army Air Forces.

The dial of the TYPE A-7 is slightly tilted to the right at the 12 o'clock position. This tilted design allows you to read the time without bending your arm. When looking at the wristwatch while holding the control stick, the 12 o'clock position is at the top.

The original watches, both types, were very large with diameters ranging from 47mm to 51cm, making them impractical for daily use. We have therefore made the size 38.5mm, which can be used by both men and women. The original had a single-pusher stopwatch function, but ours has 24-hour and day-of-the-week displays.

While the original featured a movement with a stopwatch function, our product uses an easy-to-use quartz movement. In addition to three hands, it includes 24-hour and day-of-the-week display functions.

The dial, which pays homage to the AR&J.E.MEYLAN company's dial, features a train track outside the hour markers and a minute/second display outside that. It's a very beautiful design. The black body has a fine hairline finish, giving it a matte look. The 24-hour time is displayed at the 6 o'clock position, and the day of the week is displayed as a number from 1 to 7 at the 12 o'clock position, a bold decision made to maintain the original aesthetic. Furthermore, the hour markers on the black dial are vintage-processed, reproducing the look of aged luminous paint that has peeled off over time.
